General information on groups
The CPE Bertrange/Mamer is a rather big facility, counting more than sixty educators and about 800 children. The number of children per group is around 13-14 for the Garderie and around 17-18 for the Study and recreation centre. A qualified, bilingual childcare worker looks after each group of children, with the role to respect the individual pace of each child's development whilst pursuing the objectives defined in the pedagogical project.
At the CPE, some groups speak only one language (Italian, French etc.) while others are mixed (French and Czech, English and Greek etc.) The allocation to a language group depends on the language section attended at the European School, the availability of places at the CPE as well as different organisational and pedagogical factors to ensure that groups are well balanced. Given the size of our facility, it is unfortunately not always possible to take the individual preferences of parents into account.
At the CPE, children gain experience of being part of a group, be it in a small group with their educator or in larger groups during various activities. They also have moments of downtime when they can do their own thing and benefit from some individual attention from the adults looking after them. The children also learn to respect each other’s needs, to collaborate, and to respect other cultural and/or language communities. They learn to try out socially what they learn at school and at home.
Catering
Meals are prepared and invoiced by Sodexo (same service provider as at the ES). Weekly menus are available on Sodexo’s website: http://www.sodexoeducation.lu/
From 19 August 2026, all parents must register their child on the Sodexo website and indicate the chosen meal type. This registration is compulsory for all children, including those following the “tartiniste” regime.
The meal choice may be made for the whole school year or by term. It also applies when the child attends the CPE during school holidays.
Meal schedules during the school term:
Garderie: 13:00 – 13:45
Study and recreation centre: 13:05 – 14:20
You can send any questions/comments related to meals directly to Sodexo at the following address: ecoleeuropeenne2 [dot] LU
sodexo [dot] com (ecoleeuropeenne2[dot]LU[at]sodexo[dot]com)
Any change in your child's weekly attendance will not affect the amount of parental contribution.
Activities
Several times a year the children will be able to enjoy an outdoor activity with their group (visit to a farm, museum, park, etc.) and discover places outside the CPE.
Shuttle
During the school year, at the end of the afternoon, a shuttle bus service departing in front of the CPE - Bertrange/Mamer building enables the children to come to the European School Kirchberg, to the Publications Office and to the "Goldbell" building in Gasperich.
During the school holidays, a shuttle leaves from the European School Lux 1 Kirchberg in the morning and from Mamer at the end of the afternoon.
Children are registered by applying to the European School transport association (ATSEEE).
